July 23rd and 24th, 2005 - Wasaga Under Siege
Wasaga Beach
On the weekend of 23rd & 24th, the Volunteer Battalion of the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada answered the call to assist at "Wasaga Under Siege". On August 14, 1814 the schooner Nancy was sunk in the Nottawasaga River and Nancy Island gradually built up around the sunken hull.

Dave Brunelle, the event organizer, his staff and the Friends of The Nancy are to be congratulated for an action packed, well run, War of 1812 event. The tight pack on the island made sure that everyone got along well. The facilities, amenities and provided meals were all top notch. Having the beach so close at hand provided great scenery(!) and a chance to escape the heat, at least temporarily, during one of the hottest summers in Ontario!
The IMUC look forward to again coming to the aid of Wasaga and The Nancy in the years to come! The images below are compliments of our IMUC/Camfollowers'cams. Debbie and Sarah Brown especially, were able to provide great shots of the battle scenarios.
