June 11th and 12th, 2005 - Lake Simcoe Heritage Faire and Militia Muster
Georgina Pioneer Village
Bruce Whitaker and the staff and volunteers of the Georgina Pioneer Village near Keswick Ontario are to be congratulated for a well run War of 1812 military muster on the weekend of June 11 & 12, 2005.
The Volunteer Battalion of the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada along with The Glengarry Light Infantry, The Royal Scots: Grenadiers and Light Company, The Royal Newfoundland Regiment: Bulger's Company, The British Native Allies, The 25th US Infantry: MacLachlans Company and The US Marines of the USS Constitution - Northern Detachment answered the call from Georgina Township in York Region. Despite the unseasonable heat and the odd downpour, all participants were made to feel very welcome and participated in several tactical scenarios throughout the weekend. Bruce Whitaker and his crew are to be commended again, for hosting this gem of an 1812 military muster.
We would like to acknowledge and thank our official Campfollower-cam (Debbie
Brown) for the photos below. Thanks also to Dave Westhouse of the Royal Scots Grenadiers for additional camp life pictures!
