September 2009

As the 1812 season winds down for the year, we were left with four events;
  • The Battle of Backus Mill in Port Rowan,
  • Scugog Shores Historical Museum Harvest Festival in Port Perry
  • Shelburne Ontario Air Cadet Annual Parade
  • Fanshawe Village in London Ontario.

  • The Battle Of Backus Mill - Port Rowan Ontario September 11 - 13

    Backus Mills saw us support the event as US Militia (Incorporated Militia of Upper Connecticut). This gives the Norfolk Militia the chance to wear redcoat for the event. We would like to thank Larry Hanna of the Norfolk Militia and all the staff and volunteers at Backus Mill for such a smoothly run event.

    Scugog Shores Historical Museum - Port Perry Ontario September 20, 2009

    At the Scugog Shores we came out in force to support this local museum with its annual harvest festival.

    Shelburne Ontario Air Cadet Annual Parade September 24, 2009

    In Shelburne Ontario we supported one of our own at her Air Cadets' Annual Parade. IMUC and Campfollower members were able to demonstrate period drill, explain 1812 kit and participate in English country dancing instead of the regular air cadet modern drill and activities. This proved to be a very successful night for the cadet corps and for our members!

    Fanshawe Village 1812 Event - London Ontario October 2 - 4

    Fanshawe Village's event run by the Royals continues to be one of our favourites as well. It is always a great way to end a successful, very busy season! Once again the Royals pulled off a great finale to the 1812 re-enacting season. Our thanks to Dave Westhouse and all the staff and volunteers at Fanshawe Village for always making us feel so welcome.
