September 7th through 9th - The Battle of Plattsburgh, The Battle of Backus Mill, and The Fort George 1812 Scout Campaign
September 15th - Whitby Heritage Fair
In the space of 8 days this September The Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada split its forces to support 4 different War of 1812 events, three of them on the same weekend! Members of IMUC were;
- ...at the Scout Brigade Campaign at Fort George in Niagara-On-The- Lake assisting with musket demonstrations and training. Jim Niddery and Will Woods also attended assisting the scouts and their leaders with drill and tactical demonstrations.
- ...at The Battle of Plattsburgh on Lake Champlain supporting the Canadian Fencible regiment.
- ...returning to the Battle of Backus Mill to portray US forces in support of the Norfolk Militia.
This is the first time that we have attended three diverse events all at the same time!
A week later members of the "IMUC Recruiting Party" participated in the Whitby Heritage Fair setting up an information and artifact display for the attending public.
We would like to thank Campfollowers Eirlys Kingstone, Jacquie Whelan and Deb Brown for providing the photos below.
