Each year before the opening of the re-enactment season, the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada like to put in one last full day of drill, in full kit, to make sure we are ready. For the past two years we have combined our field day activities with a community event for the seniors at the West Village Residence in Port Perry. (It has been suggested that we are actually checking out a "home" for some of our officers!)

This year the weather did not cooperate as we had to put up with a constant drizzle of rain for the entire day. To liven things up the Incorporated Militia "took" the town of Port Perry. While on the main street of town, members drummed up additional support for the West Shore Residence’s activity day. After scouting out the different commercial establishments looking for participants, IMUC marched back to the senior’s residence and went around to meet the many residents and quests of the home. A group of model boat builders was also on hand to show off their building techniques and prized models. Our own resident carver, Colour Sgt. Dave White, also worked on his newest CO effigy!

The Military Re-Enactment Society would like to thank the West Shore Residence for again inviting us to their activity day and giving us an opportunity to help them out while getting some additional drill in before heading to the Battle Of Longwoods on May 1st.
