Fanshawe Village Oct 1 - 3

This past weekend was the final 1812 event for most of us in the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada. It was hosted by the Royal Scots Grenadiers at Fanshawe Pioneer Village just outside of London on Ontario. This picture perfect site has hosted many very successful War of 1812 events. We would again like to thank the Royal Scots as well as the Fanshawe Village staff and volunteers for making us all feel very welcome. We look forward to the Grand Tactical next year in 2011, to be held at Fanshawe village

Sheridan College Film Crew

For the last 5 events spread over the last 6 weeks we have been shadowed by our own professional Sheridan College film crew! After an initial enquiry by Kyle their producer, Ian - the director, Ryan on camera and James the sound man welcomed into The Incorporated Militia. They followed us around through 5 very different events, getting a good feel as to who we are and what we do. What started as a final thesis assignment, hopefully has grown into a true friendship. "The Boys" seemed very impressed with the entire 1812 re-enactment genre. Ian, Kyle, Ryan and James dressed in period clothing, tried out musket drill and eagerly took to cast iron/open fire cooking. We do see potential members for the 1812 community!

The Uxbridge Heritage Fair, The Battle at Backus Mill, The Nine Mile Portage event at the Willow Creek Depot, the Glengarry Pioneer Village in Dunvegan and the final event of the year at Fanshawe Village gave the crew a full range of re-enactor experiences. We look forward to their continued success at Sheridan and on the big and small screen!

Battle of Mississinewa, Marion Indiana, October 8-10

Two of our members were able to make the journey to Marion Indiana t represent The Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada at the Battle of Mississinewa. Many believe that the War of 1812 in North America happened in this area with the attacks on Prophetstown. All reports say it was well worth the travel time and hope more members are able to participate in 2011.
