The Military Re-Enactment Society would like to thank the Royal Scots, 1st Regiment of Foot for hosting the Battle of Longwoods at the Longwoods Conservation Area outside Delaware Ontario, yet again. The Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society did a great job of once again setting up the period British, American and Militia encampments and arranging for the skirmishes, battalion drill and battles. The Battle of Longwoods is one of the earliest War of 1812 events each year, and is anxiously awaited, after a winter of drill. As always, the Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society were excellent hosts.
You can learn more about the original Battle Of Longwoods by going to http://www.windsorpubliclibrary.com/digi/war1812/indexflash.htm, clicking on "Raids and Skirmishes" and then on "The Battle Of The Longwoods".
Special thanks to Sandra Cayouette and Muriel Draaisma for submitting photos as well!
