Genesee Village War of 1812 Grand Tactical - June 24th - 25th, 2006

Mumford, New York

On the weekend of June 24 & 25, the Crown Forces North America, which includes the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada, crossed the US border to participate in the 1812 Grand Tactical at Genesee Village near Rochester, New York.

The Grand Tactical lived up to its billing as a premier event. The British/Canadian forces were even outnumbered by the US forces. Genesee Village, the third largest pioneer village in the US allowed for some very creative tactics and manoeuvres. Street fighting and clearing were the order of the day with it being necessary to split the Crown Forces into three columns to take on the enemy. On the Saturday, the British Canadian forces took the town and raised the King’s Colour. On Sunday we were not as fortunate as the reorganized US forces took back the village... at least until next June!

The Incorporated Militia would like to thank all those involved with the organization of this event, for a job well done. The accompanying photos are courtesy of our Campfollower- cam... Debbie Brown, Bill Longo of the Glens and everyone who took turns with the IMUC-cam!
