Battle of York Field Day, April 24th 2005

Fort York, Toronto, Ontario

Each year, with the kind permission of Old Fort York, the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada holds a full day, field day, in Toronto. We are there to help commemorate the Battle Of York in 1813. The day was spend drilling and going over safety concerns so that all the members are prepared, after a winter of drill, to go on the field at the many of the War of 1812 events held in Ontario and the US. Although it started out as a very grey day, the visiting Girl Guides, Scouts and many tourists stopped, watched and asked many questions about who we were and what we were doing. Despite the threat of rain, the Campfollowers were able to host a terrific lunch for all our members. Later in the day, several of our group also participated as members of the Regency Dancers in a display of English Country Dancing. Thanks to our CO and our drill sergeants and after a winter of indoor drill, we should be well on our way to another successful re-enacting season!

God Save The King!
