School of Soldier - April 22, 2006
Old Fort York, Toronto, Ontario
On Saturday April 22, Captain Everett, Lieutenant Kelly, Lieutenant Niddery, Colour Sergeant Dennahower, Sergeant Woods, and Corporal Avery attended the Crown Forces North America's School of the Soldier held at Historic Fort York in Toronto. Workshops included :insurance issues, officer placement in line and column, firing from three ranks, funeral procedures, pike drill, and a DVD showing the impact of different sized rounds. It afforded an excellent opportunity to reconnect with over 60 members of the other 1812 re-enactment regiments after a long winter. Getting it right and keeping it safe is certainly a good way to start the re-enacting season.

On Sunday April 30 the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada held its annual field day to coincide with the Battle of York commemoration at Historic Fort York in Toronto. The IMUC spent the day going over drill and tactical manoeuvres that will be needed for the upcoming season. We were joined this year by a few guests from the Glengarry Light Infantry. Members of the King's Regiment were also able to attend.
