August 7th & 8th, 2004 - The Siege of Fort Erie, Fort Erie, Ontario
The original Siege of Fort Erie occurred almost 190 years ago and was the bloodiest of the Canada/US conflicts during the war of 1812 - 1815. This weekend's re-enactment hosted almost 200 British/Canadian muskets alone. The original Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada fought and suffered casualties during this siege. A small group of us were able to participate at the fort this past weekend.
This weekend also marked our new regimental surgeon's first operation on the field of battle. Although the operation was a success, the private hasn't been seen since!
