IMUC Mess Dinner at Fort York - April 4th

Again this year our annual IMUC Mess Dinner was very well attended. The venue was again the Blue Barracks at Old Fort York in Toronto. Fort York has the largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings in North America. The Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada can trace it's existence back to the fort and the Battle of York in 1813.

Battle Of York April 26, 2009

The Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada, the US 22nd, the Fort's Canadian Fencibles and the US troops from Norwood High School all lent their numbers to animate the fort for the 196th anniversary of the Battle of York. IMUC traditionally supports this event and it gives us a chance to go over drill and safety concerns before the start of the new season. New initiatives from the annual School of The Soldier were also introduced to the members. We would again like to thank the fort staff for making us always feel so welcome.

Canadian Citizenship Ceremony April 27, 2009

Today marked the first time that a Canadian citizenship swearing in ceremony had been held at Old Fort York. The day was organized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
"In honour of our newest Canadians, sworn in on the 196th anniversary of the Battle of York, as a place that belongs to everybody and continues to represent Toronto and Canada's role as a safe haven in the twenty-first century". Members of the Incorporated Militia were honoured to participate as sentries, greeters and escorts for the new Canadians and the dignitaries present.
